Mediant.

What do you call an insect who is completely committed to passing linear algebra?
Determinant.

What do you call an insect who can easily recognize the number of real roots for an equation?
Discriminant.

What do you call an insect whose shape remains unchanged when reflected?
Flippant.

What do you call an insect who is always looking for things?
Secant.
