Original Joke

My friend Josh Zucker sent me the following joke, which he believes to be original.

What kind of mathematician has been standing out in the cold too long? A number theorist.

I love it, but I worry that it’s too subtle. (And as with all jokes, if you have to explain it to someone, it definitely won’t be funny.) I modified it, but I’m not sure I improved it.

A 2 and a 3 are trapped in a snowstorm. Which one has been outside longer? The number number.
